Introduction

Welcome to the Glenbuchat Archive Library

The Glenbuchat Heritage Archive contains 1835 entries about this area for you to browse. It is provided under the auspices of the Glenbuchat Heritage Association. The web site even has its own fiddle tune "Glenbuchat Heritage" courtesy of Paul Cranford.

Glenbuchat is a picturesque Glen in Strathdon Aberdeenshire. It is a Glen of fascinating history, natural beauty and wildlife. It had suffered a dramatic population fall until recently, with a drop in the population from 500 to 50 souls. Recently, however, there has been a resurgence of people living in the Glen, both young and mature, all delighting in the beauty and natural resources of the glen.

The aim of this site is to record and make available many aspects of the history and heritage of the area. Started as a photo record site it has expanded to record many maps and text entries. Many are images or information from a bygone age; some are images from present times. New images and information are always welcome. Pages can be viewed by year, by album, by group, or by contributor, or you can use the simple search at the top of this page. This is your site so please make use of it

When viewing the pages you can leave your own comments using the form at the foot of each page (please ensure that you fill in all relevant portions of the comments page; it would be appreciated if comments are left with at least a forename....anonymous comments may not be published).

We need your help! If you have an interest in Glenbuchat, you may have access to old photos, books documents relating to the Glen. If you have, we would be delighted to display them. Contact us using the email address below.
