Many thanks for these cracking photos and transcriptions, a wonderful resource for family historians, especially those unable to visit in person.
Robert Allanach and Mary Hay are my 4 X Great Grandparents, with the above mentioned Jane Allanach Douglas being my paternal Grandmother; she was actually born in 1913, not 1910 as stated above.
I have Robert Allanach's death certificate, where the informant was his son Alexander. The relevant detail given is as follows: Crofter, Married. Date & Place of death: 1856 March 6th - Upperton, Glenbucket, Aberdeenshire. Age 65 (which fits in with his birth year of 1791, rather than the Duncan Allanach/Sophie Glass Robert's birth year of 1789). Parents: John Allanach, Crofter (deceased) and Sophia Allanach, M.S. McHardy (deceased) Informant: Alexander Allanach, Son, Present, Upperton, Glenbucket.
It's a shame that this family (my family) have been slotted into an incorrect family based on incorrect, tenuous, unsourced information published online when the correct sourced information is so easily found as there are now undoubtedly a good few trees out there with an entire unconnected branch.
