Frank Clark initially enquired on the web site about a note about a Miss Clark at Maryfield cottage. He then sent the above photo thought to be his grandparents, Jonathon Gauld and Margaret Milton

“My father was James Clark born 31st March1906. I always knew my grandmother lived at Maryfield and wondered why a Miss Clark was listed as living there. I remember her as a rather prim lady and when as a boy she would ask if you wanted a biscuit and send you out to the yard to play.

My other grandmother was granny Gauld, who lived in Sunnybrae Cottage and as I was born during the war I spent the first month of my life living there. I spent many holidays living with her. She was a totally different lady and I could live at least a week without having to wash. Perhaps the Miss Clark was just a mistake but there always something funny about her marriage.

I am now certain that my grandparent were James Clark and Jessie Duncan who lived at Maryfield. My dad was also James Clark. Born 1906 and died 1988. He married my mum Helen Michie Gauld at Glenbuchat in 1933.

The old family picture could be my grandparents Jonathon Gauld and Margaret Milton. I believe Jonathon had a son before he was married and went on to have a son and five daughters. Jonathon was eleven years older than Margaret but looks much older in the photo. When on holiday I spent time at the Johnstone farm and remember Gordon who i think was the same age as me and his brothers”
