Maryln Coutts Scott stated:
“Catherine Symon, my G.G. Grandmother, was witness to a wedding on 16/02/1861 at Loinahaun Glen Gairn between George Hanton and Mary Leys. George’s father was deceased but his mother Catherine Symon was still alive.

In the family group photo from L to R:
George Coutts, my grandfather, his grandmother, Catherine Symon, John Coutts, Annie, his elder brother John, baby George Tough Coutts and Barbara Ogg.

George Tough Coutts was the illegitimate son of the families’ eldest daughter, Mary, who married Alexander Hanton when the baby was three years old. He was adopted by Barbara Ogg and John Coutts.”

“I am very interested in the Hanton story as:
My great grandparents were John Coutts and Barbara Ogg.
Barbara's parents were William Ogg and Catherine Symon.
John Coutts’s parents were George Coutts and Elizabeth Stewart.
My grandparents lived in Leochel Cushnie, but the Oggs have connections to Strathdon as well.
My great aunt Mary Coutts married Alexander Hanton.
Alexanders parents were George Hanton and Mary Leys.”

Marilyn also provided a photo of the Gravestone in Towie of William Ogg and Catherine Symon at Towie. The gravestone reads as follows:

Hillside Towie in memory of their family
Viz
George who died 10th Jan 18 aged 5 years
Robert who died September 18 aged 26 years
And
William died 15th May 18 aged 19 years.
The above said Willaim Ogg died 5th May 1875 aged 60 years
Also, the above Catherine Symon, his wife
Who died at Broadbog Leochel Cushnie 28th August 1908 aged 81 years
Their son James died 15th February 1884 aged 39 years
And Catherine died 13th October 1884 aged 2 years
Also, their son Charles Ogg died at Heughhead Strathdon 30th January 1945 aged 84 years.
