These pictures are of a tragic family
John Forbes1801–1840 was the first son of Sir Charles Forbes 1773–1849 1st Baronet of Newe and was due to inherit his title. Unfortunately, John died 9 years before his father. John was always a sickly child and adult and suffered from chronic Tuberculosis (Consumption). Unfortunately, this was to affect most of the rest of his family and almost a generation was wiped out.
When Sir Charles died in 1849 the title passed to John’s eldest son also called Charles (1832-52) and he became the 2nd baronet. Unfortunately, he only lived for 3 years to use the title and died at the age of 29. The title then passed back to his father’s brother, the son of Sir Charles the 1st Baronet (so many Charles’ is confusing) also called Charles1803–1877, who became the 3rd Baronet
John married Mary Jane Hunter and had six children and only one, Katharine, lived to a good old age. Katharine is the small picture on the bottom left.
