Dr Profeit was the doctor at Towie and Glenbuchat who then moved to practice at Crathie. In 1874 after the retiral of Dr Robertson Dr Profeit became the Queen Victoria’s Commissioner at balmoral

In 2019 I met with Victor Jordan, Dr Profeit’s Great Grandson who provided some documents about Dr Profeit. These and other documents and photos are shown in the following pages.


Dr Profeit was in charge of running the Balmoral estate for Queen Victoria. John Brown, the Queen’s favourite Highland servant came from the local area and was well known to Dr Profeit who had been a GP in the area. It was well known that Dr Profeit and John Brown did not get on together. After John Browns death Queen Victoria has a gold memorial lapel pin produced and gave them to her trusted advisers who were expected to wear them. It is said that Dr Profeit only wore his on his lapel when the Queen was about and at other times hit it underneath his lapel.
