This medal, in its presentation case was won at the Lonach Games of 1903 by? Hay of Easterbuchat, a gamekeeper to Glenbuchat Estate, He later became tenant farmer of Craighead Farm at Belnacraig . His son George Hay took over the tenancy and farmed there until he retired in 1983.
The 1918 Voters Roll for Easterbucket names James Hay Shepherd and Sarah Hay living there. See Craighead entry above for more family details

Further to the medal winner - George Morrison Hay (1868 - 1927) shepherd and game keeper at Easterbuchat until 1908 -09 and then tenant farmer at Craighead -see also page 46 of Glenbuchat Yesterdays Vol 2 . George's tweed jacket and waist coat were made from local wool, dyed, spun and woven in the glen to the laird's James W. Barclay's pattern. Every estate worker was issued with these along with a kilt (in the Glenbuchat Barclay tartan) for dress occasions.
