Second on the right up Belnacraig hill, the cottage has recently gone under extensive extension and renovation

Baile, town; na, of the; gabhainn, gen. of gabhann, cattle-fold,

From the Gaelic "baile" meaning a homestead or a village and "a'ghobhainn" meaning "of the blacksmiths".

There is little record of the occupants of the cottage in the past although it was occupied by Sandy Shand possibly up to the 1950’s
