Tombreck (1850 map)
The name is confusing as there are different spellings of it at different times and there are also places with similar names called Tombrake in Strathdon and Tombeak in Glenlivet.

Tom Breac, Tombreck. Hill showing patches of different colour from the main part.
Tom, hill; breac, spotted, dappled.

Previously Tombreck, Glenbucket, was a mill with an associated cottage. Now it is two separate premises; one the cottage and the other the mill building which has recently been converted into a home.

From Wandering in the Highlands 1881
“Leaving the cuppet stones therefore to tell their own tale, we hurried away to the farm house of Tombreck, tenanted by Mr Forbes, auctioneer, a gentleman well known over a wide district of country. As a judge of cattle, Mr Forbes has few equals. We called while passing, but as usual he was away at a sale, therefore we could not see him”
