Comments:
This beautiful watercolour was done by my great-grandmother Alice Thiele (1858-1943), neƩ Smith, daughter of William Pirie Smith, Free Church minister in Keig, and Jane Robertson, sister of
Ellen (Nellie) Deans Allan
, who was wife of the Free Church minister James Hamilton Allan. Their brother was the famous Scottish scholar William Robertson Smith (1846-1894). Alice had married a German and lived in Germany. From time to time she visited Scotland. In 1907 the Smith-siblings had a family-reunion in Alford and on that occasion visited the old places in the vicinity. She must have loved the Glenbuchat region.
