Mary McGonigal

Author of Information on Drumnagarrow in http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~patrickspeople'

"My connection with it genealogically speaking is through my husband Jim or James McGonigal. We are both retired, both from teaching careers, my own at secondary level, Jim's at tertiary level, in various institutions, finishing as a professor at the University of Glasgow. Now he spends more time writing and has recently published a biography of the poet Edwin Morgan. We have four grown up children and five, soon to be six, grandchildren.

My husband, Jim, is a descendant of Christian Strachen, the sister of the musician, James Strachen 'Drumnagarrow', through her daughter Christian Home. This lady's grandson was James Gordon, Jim's maternal grandfather, whose family transferred to Edinburgh from Clatt. There is a Gordon connection with Glenbucket there too, via Rothes and Mortlach."
