G F Rose of Auchernach and Tullich Lodge died on 24 Feb 1940 in Tullich Lodge, Ballater,

The House and estate were eventually sold to a timber merchant in 1943. There was a suggestion that Aberdeen Council might but the house as a residential School but this was to be too expensive and the house was demolished in 1945.
